The Barska Biometric Safe is a state of the art fingerprint recognition safe. The safe is quite roomy and can be used to store items like handguns and ammunition, medicine, jewelry, passports and more. The safe is also supplied with a mat which fits inside to protect your valuables from damage.
A fixing kit comes with the safe that comprises a set of locking bolts that can be used to fix the safe to the floor or wall securely so it cannot be removed by burglars if they find it in your home.
This is a compact safe measuring 16.5 x 7.75 x 14.5 inches (W x H x D) providing plenty of room to store things in but keeping it small enough to hide away out of sight.
The Barska Fingerprint Reader
The safe fingerprint reader takes only a few minutes to program following the simple instructions supplied by Barska with the safe.
The safe can hold up to 30 fingerprints and its a good idea to record a few of your fingerprints just in case you have an accident and you will then have the option of using another finger. It also might be a good idea to program the same finger 2 or 3 times from different angles so that you don’t have to have your finger in exactly the same position every time you want to open the safe.
The fingerprint reader is very precise so only the unique registered fingerprints can open the safe. Numerous tests have been carried out and confirm that no unregistered fingerprints can open the safe. This makes the safe especially suitable for storing things like small firearms or medicines out of harms way of the children.
The Barska Biometric Safe takes about 3-5 seconds to recognize a fingerprint and unlock. When the safe unlocks a loud beeping starts. This kind of ruins the whole stealth idea of having one of these safes but on the plus side you will hear it open if anyone else manages to get into it.
This safe runs on 4 AA batteries so you can store it somewhere remote and it will have power, although it stays locked even without having batteries in so you don’t have to worry about children or thieves taking the batteries out to try break in.

Not only can I keep the gun fully loaded without any safety devices on it, but NO ONE can retrieve it from the safe but me…
Cons
It is quite heavy so the average shelf will have trouble holding its weight, especially when full. This is why barska provide the mounting equipment and pre drilled holes in the safe to allow fixing to a wall or the floor.
What’s in the Box?
There are two emergency release keys which come in handy if the batteries die and you need to open the safe. You have to take a panel off the safe using an allen key before being able to get to the keyhole.
You also get mounting equipment that is specially designed for this particular Barska Gun Safe. This allows you to bolt it to a floor or wall to stop thieves stealing it or if you hide it the back of a cupboard will stop your kids from finding it.
Conclusion
Overall, the Barska Biometric Safe provides very good quality at an affordable cost. The safe satisfies the main concerns I have which are keeping my guns and money safe from the kids and giving me piece of mind that I am the only one able to open it.
